German automaker Porsche has issued a voluntary safety recall for its Cayenne models from 2011 to 2016, getting ahead of potential problems.
The recall is to inspect the pedal bracket, since there is a possibility the clip has become dislodged from the part. The recall affects 409,477 models worldwide.
Problem prevention
Porsche identified the issue during an internal inspection. It has fixed the problem in production, but older models may require attention.
If the automaker finds that the clip has separated from the pedal bracket, it will reinstall the part.
As of press time, no accidents or injuries connected to the problem have been reported.
Porsche previously took precautionary measures after an internal check found a faulty hood lock bracket on 4,428 two-door models worldwide.
Although no incidents, accidents or injuries had been reported to Porsche, the automaker took the matter seriously by issuing a voluntary safety recall. By reassuring consumers that recall measures are in place, Porsche is underlining its dedication to quality and the safety of its drivers (see story).
