Jenn-Air’s Obsidian interior fridge
Appliance maker Jenn-Air is furthering the connectivity of its product offerings with the introduction of a WiFi-enabled refrigerator.
Similar to its connected wall oven, Jenn-Air’s counter-depth French door refrigerator will feature wireless connectivity and a fully functional application available for iOS and Android devices (see story). The intelligent connectivity will be further heightened by the modern sophistication of Jenn-Air’s Obsidian interior.

Jenn-Air’s WiFi fridge app will allow homeowners to activate the appliance’s settings and will serve as a remote control for the unit. The app can notify the homeowner if a door has been left ajar or if the fridge has lost connectivity to the server.
Special modes can be set to dictate the fridge’s behavior, making it produce extra ice cubes when hosting a get together or lower the temperature if the doors will be opened for an extended period of time.
The connected fridge will also benefit from the app’s control of the interior to ensure optimized conditions for the food stored within. For instance, the Jenn-Air app has a Max Cool setting that will lower the temperature for a select period of time and can also provide live links to purchase items such as water and air filters needed for the appliance.

Jenn-Air’s product also offers optimal storage conditions through the brand’s TwinFresh Climate Control System, which includes evaporators in both the fridge and freezer to create independent humidity and temperature control. This allows for distinct environments for fresh and frozen foods.
Standard features of the fridge include soft-close drawers, adjustable glass shelving and metal door bins and an interior LED light strip. Jenn-Air’s two styles of the connected fridge, Euro-Style with curved handles and the more commercial Pro-Style, retail for $4,599 and $4,699, respectively.
